Dr. Henna Karamat Durrani has been appointed as the Executive Director, National Digital Innovation Lab (Education) at the Pakistan Digital Authority, signaling a major operational shift to modernize the nation’s digital education infrastructure. Armed with 21 years of experience in institutional reform, public policy, and skills development, Durrani is tasked with executing a systemic digital transformation across the education sector to align the national workforce with impending technological demands.

“The directive strictly positions digital transformation in education not as a theoretical initiative, but as a critical economic lever linking academic output directly to technological innovation and national growth.”

Prior to this appointment, Durrani served as the Chief Skills Development Officer at the Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB) under the Federal Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication. In this capacity, she directed critical prime ministerial technology initiatives, most notably the National Semiconductor Human Resource Development Program and the AI for Her Pavilion. Operating as the Secretary of the National Committee on ICT Skills and Capacity Development, she forced direct coordination among government entities, academic institutions, and private industry leaders to aggressively target national workforce deficits.

Her background in structural policy reform extends to her tenure at the National Vocational and Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC) within the Federal Ministry of Education and Professional Training. Functioning as a Master Trainer specializing in curriculum development, she engineered technical and vocational education reforms alongside international organizations to modernize outdated training frameworks.

Durrani holds a PhD, supported by doctoral research conducted at Michigan State University. Her professional trajectory reflects a strict focus on bridging the divide between academic theory and tangible labor market execution, alongside enforcing gender inclusion within the technology and economic sectors.
