Pakistan’s largest Islamic bank, Meezan Bank, has successfully migrated its entire payments ecosystem to BPC’s SmartVista platform. The comprehensive transition consolidates the bank’s digital infrastructure onto a single, highly scalable system capable of processing over 1,500 transactions per second during peak operational periods.
The end-to-end migration encompasses 7.5 million active cards, the bank’s complete merchant acquiring operations across point-of-sale (POS) and e-commerce, QR payments, payment gateway services, and advanced fraud management capabilities. The upgrade also fortifies the bank’s capacity to handle instant payments, supporting its current processing volume of approximately two million Raast transactions daily across a nationwide network of over 100,000 QR codes.
Meezan Bank’s leadership emphasized that the strategic shift was executed seamlessly, without disrupting ongoing services for cardholders and merchants. Faiz ur Rehman, Group Head of Information Technology, noted that the unified platform provides a robust technological foundation for the continued expansion of the bank’s card business, merchant services, and Raast digital traffic. Echoing this sentiment, Chief Information Officer Ali Imran Khan highlighted that modernising the payments architecture is a critical step in securing the bank’s future growth and strengthening its digital footprint in Pakistan.
