Atlas Honda Limited (PSX: ATLH) has announced a profit for the period of Rs11.53 billion for the half year ended September 30, 2026, marking a 19.83% increase compared with Rs9.62 billion recorded in the corresponding period of the previous year. The earnings expansion was propelled by robust top-line growth, although surging operational costs, heavier taxation charges, and a steep escalation in finance expenses partially offset the bottom-line gains.
Basic and diluted earnings per share (EPS) climbed 19.83% to Rs92.88, up from Rs77.51 in the same period last year. Alongside the financial results, company leadership declared an interim cash dividend of Rs56 per share, translating to a payout of 560% for shareholders.
Top-Line Growth Versus Escalating Cost Pressures
Net sales for the half-year period grew 29.02% to Rs161.71 billion, compared with Rs125.34 billion a year earlier. However, cost of sales rose at a slightly faster pace of 30.57% to Rs142.94 billion from Rs109.47 billion.
This disproportionate rise in direct expenses restricted gross profit growth to 18.30%, bringing the gross profit figure to Rs18.77 billion against Rs15.86 billion in the prior year.
“Cost of sales rose slightly faster, by 30.57%, to Rs142.94bn from Rs109.47bn, which limited gross profit growth to 18.30% at Rs18.77bn, compared with Rs15.86bn.”
Operating overheads registered significant increases across all divisions. Sales and marketing expenses expanded 25.65% to Rs2.96 billion, while administrative expenses rose 29.49% to Rs896.71 million. Furthermore, other operating expenses grew 23.23% to Rs981.14 million from Rs796.17 million.
Other Income And Operating Profitability
Mitigating the pressure from operational expenses, other income rose 26.80% to Rs4.55 billion compared with Rs3.59 billion previously. The company’s share of net profit from an associate also advanced 50.95% to Rs46.51 million from Rs30.81 million.
Consequently, operating profit climbed 18.46% to reach Rs18.53 billion from Rs15.64 billion. Finance costs experienced a sharp percentage increase, more than doubling by 106.26% to Rs163.59 million from Rs79.31 million, reflecting tighter monetary dynamics during the period.
Taxation And Final Earnings
Profit before levies and income tax grew 18.01% to Rs18.36 billion from Rs15.56 billion. Tax liabilities expanded notably: the minimum tax differential rose 67.44% to Rs11.32 million, and final taxes surged more than eight-fold to Rs15.98 million.
Current tax for the year increased 17.61% to Rs7.15 billion, while deferred tax income more than doubled to Rs335.48 million. Total tax charges advanced 14.77% to Rs6.81 billion, leaving the net profit for the period at Rs11.53 billion.
