The Oil & Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) has officially commenced commercial gas and condensate production from its Bitrism East-1 exploratory well, situated in the Khairpur district of Sindh. The initial output registers at 7 million standard cubic feet of gas and 200 barrels of condensate per day.
In a formal notice submitted to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), the company confirmed that production originates from the Basal Sands within the Lower Goru Formation. This milestone follows the initial gas-condensate discovery announced by the firm on October 1, 2025. According to OGDCL management, production volumes are expected to experience progressive increases as well flow rates stabilize over the coming period.
Infrastructure and Network Integration
To facilitate the swift commercialization of the discovery, OGDCL utilized its own in-house financial and technical resources to lay an approximately 28-kilometre-long, 8-inch flowline. This pipeline connects the Bitrism East-1 well directly to the Sinjhoro processing plant. Following standard processing, the treated gas is successfully injected into the Sui Southern Gas Company Limited (SSGCL) network, bolstering domestic energy supplies.

Joint Venture and Strategic Objectives
OGDCL serves as the operator of the Bitrism Exploration Licence, maintaining a commanding 77.5% working interest, while its strategic joint venture partner, Government Holdings (Private) Limited (GHPL), holds the remaining 22.5%.
The integration of the Bitrism East-1 well into the national grid forms part of OGDCL’s broader, ongoing strategy to fast-track new discoveries into active production phases, minimize import dependency, and enhance domestic hydrocarbon availability.
