First IBL Modaraba is officially plotting a course into Pakistan’s rapidly expanding sustainable transport ecosystem. In a corporate disclosure submitted to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) on November 6, 2026, the Islamic financial institution announced ambitious plans to establish a dedicated subsidiary designed to explore emerging business opportunities within the electric vehicle (EV) mobility space and related commercial sectors.
The strategic transition was set in motion following a board of directors meeting held on October 27, 2026, during which the leadership granted in-principle approval for the subsidiary’s formation. According to the regulatory filing, the proposed corporate entity will operate with a broad mandate, aggressively exploring potential business opportunities in electric vehicle mobility, allied supply chain businesses, general trading activities, and other commercial ventures.
This proposed expansion represents a profound structural diversification for First IBL Modaraba, a multi-purpose institution traditionally rooted in Shariah-compliant financial offerings such as Ijarah (leasing), Musharakah (joint venture), and Morabaha (cost-plus) financing facilities. By stepping into the physical mobility and trading sector, the Modaraba is positioning itself to capitalise on Pakistan’s burgeoning transition towards green energy and electric transit—a sector that is increasingly attracting both domestic conglomerates and foreign automotive brands seeking to leverage state-backed tax concessions and robust consumer demand.

Despite the ambitious scope of the announcement, the corporate filing remained notably guarded regarding commercial specifics. First IBL Modaraba has not yet disclosed the proposed subsidiary’s initial capital structure, total investment requirements, or precise ownership arrangements. Furthermore, it remains to be seen whether the subsidiary will operate as a direct importer and distributor of electric vehicles, a dedicated provider of EV asset financing, or a developer of broader mobility-related infrastructure and services.
As with all major structural pivots within Pakistan’s heavily regulated non-banking financial sector, the formal incorporation and operational launch of the new subsidiary remain strictly contingent upon securing robust regulatory clearances. First IBL Modaraba, which is managed by Lahore-based IBL Modaraba Management (Private) Limited, confirmed that the execution of its expansion strategy is subject to obtaining necessary approvals from the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan and completing all applicable legal and statutory formalities.
