Sazgar Engineering Works Limited has formally addressed circulating market rumours regarding its international expansion, clarifying that it has not made any direct equity investment in a recently inaugurated three-wheeler manufacturing plant in the Philippines.

In a regulatory filing submitted to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, the automaker sought to correct social media reports that suggested Sazgar had independently established the overseas manufacturing project. Instead, the company confirmed that the facility belongs entirely to its regional distributor, functioning under a strategic partnership where Sazgar provides crucial technical assistance and support.

Driving CKD Exports and Foreign Exchange

While Sazgar does not hold an equity stake in the physical plant, the arrangement remains a highly lucrative development for the company’s export ledger. Sazgar confirmed it will act as the primary supplier for the facility, exporting completely knocked down (CKD) kits of its three-wheelers to the Philippines.

This supply chain agreement is expected to significantly boost Sazgar’s export volumes while generating vital foreign exchange earnings for Pakistan. “The Company would like to clarify that our distributor has established a manufacturing and assembly plant in Philippines for the manufacturing and assembly of Sazgar’s Three Wheelers with the company’s support and technical assistance,” the PSX notice stated.

To reassure shareholders and regulators, Sazgar explicitly noted, “The Company has not made any equity investment in the said plant,” adding that any future capital investments in overseas manufacturing facilities would be strictly disclosed to the PSX and the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) in compliance with regulatory frameworks.

The Laguna Facility and Sazgar’s Global Footprint

The clarification comes just days after Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. officially inaugurated the assembly facility in Laguna province on October 29. During the high-profile ceremony, President Marcos highlighted the project’s capacity to stimulate local manufacturing, generate employment, and create a broader ecosystem for automotive component suppliers in the Philippines.

The Laguna plant boasts an annual assembly capacity of approximately 12,000 three-wheelers and is equipped to assemble both traditional internal combustion engine (ICE) models and modern electric vehicles (EVs).

For Sazgar, securing a steady export pipeline to the Philippines represents the successful execution of a long-term strategic vision. In September 2025, the manufacturer publicly identified the Philippines, alongside Mexico and Afghanistan, as primary target markets to diversify its revenue streams and establish a robust footprint in the international light-commercial and passenger vehicle sectors.
